Is it ok for my Baby to Skip Crawling?

Did your child learn to walk before they crawled? Or have you ever wondered ‘is it’s ok for my baby to skip crawling?’ Are you worried about baby development milestones and if they should be achieved in order? Let’s see what the research says about infant development and whether or not your skipping crawling is bad for development.

The research says...

Babies skipping crawling is common and won’t affect baby development!

The World Health Organisation did a cool study which tracked nearly 1000 kids all over the world (Ghana, USA, Oman, Brazil, Denmark and India) and found that up to 13% of kids stood and walked before they learnt to crawl. That means about 1 in 8 typically developing children learnt to walk before they could crawl!

The best part is, there was no impact on the milestone development of children who skipped crawling. Every child’s development is unique. The baby milestones and order in which the are achieved are different and unique to each baby. Baby motor skills and milestones can be achieved in different order to what is considered ‘normal’ without impacting on your baby’s development.
